1) What makes you take up this sport?

I am truly intoxicated with this sport because I had acquired much knowledge from it. From astronomy to geography, experience the wild and nature of mother earth and understanding the habits of individual living creature (especially fishes). I only started fishing recently after my friend introduced it to me and I am now all into it.

Of course, the most direct benefit I gained from this activity is that fishing enhances my physical fitness and my intellectual. Giving me great chance to get in touch with nature, a place to release my tension and fill my poor lungs with fresh air. Such a "wholesome" and "enrich" activity that I will continue to love it and will never give up this sport.

2) What are the changes you had seen in the Fishing Industry throughout the years?

In recent years, I noticed that new products introduced by the fishing tackle industry are gaining popularity among new generation of anglers. I believe this is because the design of the product not only in line with modern technology but it has also gone into the "ergonomic" concept. With the structure of human concept in mind, this help to increase the combat capability of the angler when facing the large fish .Other than that, this will also help to avoid sprains and hence reducing the number of accidental injuries.

Therefore, I suggest that it is very important to purchase your fishing equipment from a leading fishing tackle company with proven track record. This not only provides you with great satisfaction but also gives you the element of safety. Personally, I always buy my fishing products from a reputation fishing brand such as SHIMANO as they provide better quality and value for money products.

3) Countries and places that you had fish before ( experience )

I do not have much experience of foreign fishing. However, I do have many great fishing experiences within my native country - Malaysia; I have traveled across a number of well-known fishing destinations in Malaysia.

Just to name a few of my "salt water" fishing areas: Off the coast of Kedah, Penang, Selangor, Pulau Sembilan, Pulau Jarak, Pulau Aur, offshore of Rompin, Pekan, Terengganu, as well as the world-famous layang layang islands (located offshore Sabah).

The salt water fishes that I managed to land include: Giant Trevally 11kg, Cobia 18kg, shark 15kg, Queenfish 9.5kg, Dogtooth Tuna 9kg,Barracuda11kg, Baracouta 2.5kg , Escolar 28kg , Sailfish 35kg, Hammer Trevally 5.5kg, Lates Calcarifer (Barramundi) 5.8kg, Golden Snapper 7kg, Mackerel 6kg, Grouper 5kg, Big Eye Trevally 4.5kg, Cuttle Fish, etc.

As for the "fresh water" fish, the area include: Temenggong Dam, Kenyir Dam, Chenderong Dam, Kuala Tahan National Park, part of the mountains and rivers, a number of natural lakes, a number of man-made mining pond, tributaries, rivers, wild pond , and many more.

The species of fishes I landed within those mentioned area include: Toman 8.5kg, Haruan 2.8kg, Bujuk 2.6kg, Peacock Bass 52cm, Belida 2.5kg, Sebarau 2.6kg, Kelah 3kg, Pacu 7kg, Patin 9.5kg, Big Head Carp 2.5kg, Chinese Carp 9.5kg, Bass 3.5kg, Loach 3kg, Tilapia 1.5kg, Baung 1.5kg, Fresh Water Prawn, etc.

5) Vision, Dream? ( Related to fishing )

My previous fishing "Vision" is trying to uncover all the great fishes in Malaysia and defeat them one by one. And my "Dream" is to become a "Professional Angler" who at the same time can support my family.

Later when I become more mature, I realized that my "Vision" and "Dream" are really a joke and also very naive. As to uncover and defeat all the domestic "Great Fish" is almost an impossible "Vision". As one great fish is defeated, another fish will take over its’ place and become another great fish

Therefore, to use of my limited life time to go against it I find that it is truly a fantasy yet a comedy "Vision".

Looking back at my previous "Dream", it is such a childish thing. This is because in order to become a "Professional Angler", it is not by knowing how to handle the fishing rod but you need to acquire extreme knowledge about fishing in order to become one.

As of now I’m just an ordinary employee who is lack of support of wages to chase after my "Dream" as a long-term pursuit. First of all, my family will face great pressure and difficulty and if I persist to fulfill on my "Dream" it will become a problem to me and my family.

As of today, I am very fortunate to receive an invitation from SHIMANO to become one of their regional testers. Now I have the opportunity to live with the big family and have a chance to fulfill my "Dream". Let the light from SHIMANO shine on me, moisture me and empowered me to realize my impossible "Dream" one by one.

Finally, I decided to keep my old dreams and aspirations in my memory, let me first join the big family of SHIMANO, and learn to realize my future "Dream".

6) Advice for New Anglers?
