Catch Report: Fishing for squid Part 2
09 June 2009
9.00pm - 12.30am(3.5hrs)

The urge to get hooked onto a huge squid remains in my mind as I kept watching ShimanoTV. I was determined to try and get a record size bugger on squid jig. I knew that I have to be hardworking and persistent if I wanted to catch one. Therefore, I am monitoring the tide table closely and I never want to miss any chance if it happens to be my off day.
This time, I had Jake with me for the 3.5hrs of leisure squid fishing. My first hit was around 30mins after I got started. It was a small squid as shown in the picture above. It took my tiny squid jig when I was looking elsewhere.
This "greeneye" squid came after I shifted spot. I gotten it at around 10.15pm. At this place, I missed 2 hits but managed to bring this bugger up for a picture.

As I was retriving the squid jig. I strike the rod when I felt a gentle tuck on the Bassterra. The squid jig came back with a crab attached onto the hooks. Just as I was trying to bring it up, it came loose by itself and drop back into the water. I managed to snap a picture of it before it went hiding in the rocks.
This tiny little fella took the squid jig as I was bringing the jig close to the surface. It came out of nowhere and cling onto the jig and never wanted to let go. It only got hooked when I strike the bassterra against it.
The star of the night goes to Jake, my regular fishingkaki who's a big fan of the squid fishing department. Usually, he gets all the bigger ones as he make it a point to "bake" his luminous squid jig under the lightings. Making the squid jig seems attractive to the bigger squids. The Shimano Soare squid fishing reel which he is using really makes me drool as its very smooth and its really nice!!
